Tere Recarens

Biography

Tere Recarens (°1967 Arbucies, Catalonia, Spain) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. To her, art is directly linked with everyday life. She draws inspiration from her personal experiences and nomadic travels around the world. Most of her titles contain direct references to her name (Tere). For example, she likes to define herself as ‘TERREMOTO’ (‘EARTHQUAKE’). Fun, humorous and joyful are just some of the characteristics of her dynamic and disturbing artistic creations. She is not afraid of transgression or risk and often uses the absurd to provoke fascinating situations. Most recently, she has done a performance in PS1 New York, created a collaborative work in Mali and right now, she is experimenting with references to the Arab world, based on a recent trip to Teheran. Her work is presented in important private and public collections around the world.
