Gavin Turk (° 1967, Guildford, UK) is a British artist and is considered to be one of the members of the ‘Young British Artists’, a generation that can count Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and The Chapman Brothers among its ranks and became world-famous, partially thanks to the exhibition SENSATION, a show of the Saatchi collection. Turk's oeuvre deals with issues of authenticity and identity and is engaged with modernist and avant-garde debates surrounding the 'myth' of the artist and the 'authorship' of a work of art. He exhibits worldwide and his work is featured in many important collections of contemporary art.
