Leo Copers

Biography

Leo Copers (*1947, lives in Wetteren) has been working on his comprehensive and enchanting oeuvre –which comprises sculptures, installations, paintings and drawings- since the early seventies. His works are often provocative and poetic, even though, as an artist he tends to keep a certain distance. His presence is noticeable, but one cannot make sense of how the artist relates to the themes of the work.

He conjures with different views or ideas and existing symbols, seduces the spectator with his magic, only to leave him with a sense of dismay and a smile, by using oppositions, deconstruction and artificial tensions.
