Carlos Amorales is a Mexican artist (°1970, Mexico City) who studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam and now lives in Mexico. In his work, he analyses society’s relationship with the everyday use of codes and languages. He uses a wide range of mediums including video, drawing, animation film, sculpture, installation and performance. He participated twice in the Venice Biennial, first representing Holland in the Dutch Pavilion and then representing his home country in 2017 with the project entitled Life in the Folds. He has also exhibited his work in the Migros Museum Zürich, the Centre Pompidou Paris and in Tate Modern, London.
